52CCT August Technique Challenge

Hello Everyone,
This time around on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge it is the 4th week of the month so it is either a Stash or Technique Challenge. And this time around Netta has decided that we are going to explore a Technique.

When I saw this as one of the things for us to play with I must admit that I had never heard of it before so of course, I went to YouTube for assistance. And I found this tutorial by Gina K that helped a lot. This is my interpretation of this technique.

I am really happy with how the card turned out. I think that if I do this technique again I am going to have to buy a wider brayer because you can see how wide the one I used was. I kept the rest of the card pretty simple with just layering a piece of washi tape because I wanted the focus to be on the technique, not something else.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my Design Team work for this week. I hope that you will come on over to the 52CCT blog and play along with this fun technique. Look forward to seeing you there.

Until Next Time,
Tracy B

February Colour Challenge

Hello Everyone,
The Christmas card that I am sharing today is a little on the simpler side but I am actually liking it a lot. I don't usually go for this simple but being challenged can push you in different directions. So since this is week 2 of the month it is time for a colour challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. Our host Alison has given us this combo to play with
52 Christmas Card Throwdown
February Colour Challenge

and with this inspiration this is the card I came up with
My Cuttlebug got a bit of a work out making this card first for the cutting of the stars and 2nd for using an embossing folder that I got from a card making magazine last year. To give this simple design a little more interest I added some small holographic silver stickers.

I hope that you will consider coming over to the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge and play along with our latest challenge. Thanks for stopping in to look at my Design Team project. Before you go I would like to leave you with this thought
I chose this quote because of the floods that have been happening in the northern part of the state I live in. The new beginning hasn't even been able to start yet because there is still so much uncertainty with the weather. I pray that the clean up can start soon and people will know the way forward from here.

Until Next Time,

January 2019 Technique

Hello Everyone. Today over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge blog we are being hosted by Andreja again. This being the 4th week of the month it is time for a Stash or Technique Challenge. Andreja has chosen
I must admit to not doing this technique often. I mean I have all the supplies but it and I don't get along very well. But this is the card that I made for the challenge
I have to admit to this being my 3rd go at this technique I was getting ready to chuck everything in the bin. I was not having a good crafting morning. But I went with this stamp and using clear embossing powder and I liked most of the panel I created. So I salvaged what I could and came up with this card.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my card creation. Why not come on over and play along with our latest challenge. I look forward to seeing you over there. As always before you go I would like to leave you with this thought

While in the middle of my disaster I definitely had to find the element of fun to find a way to finish my project. Sometimes finding the fun or the purpose as to why you started something can help you find your way through.

January Colour Challenge

Hello Everyone,
Today over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge it is week two of the month which means we are bringing you a colour challenge. And our host Andreja has chosen this colour combination for us to play with

When I was first told about this combination I thought that it was very different. And it was going to take me out of my comfort zone. I mean don't get me wrong I love Purple and I also like Green but I have never used them on a Christmas card before. But this is the card that I have come up with.

Before I made this card I had to look through my stash to see if I actually had some papers that fitted the colours and luck was on my side. I had gotten a magazine that included Christmas papers that had these colours in it ... Yeah Happy Dance!! But I didn't really know how to pull it all together so I went to my favourite starting point a sketch and I found this one from 52 CCT

It was a simpler design but I knew that I could work with it. The papers had these stitched looking trees which I thought I could make into the main element. All I had to do was add a piece of sand coloured card stock which I used distress ink around the edge for the trunks. Then I found in my sticker stash my holographic circle stickers which I put on the trees for lights and I also had this Seasons Greetings as well and thought it set the card off nicely. Instead of using some paper for the strip I dug into my washi tape collection to find just the right one - this one is a little see through but I liked the design. And this finished off my card.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my Design Team project. I would love it if you came and played along with our colour combination this week but also the fun upcoming challenges as well. See you around at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown - January 2019 Sketch

Hello Everyone,
Welcome to 2019 and welcome to January and our Challenge host for the month Andreja for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. Since it is the first challenge of the month we are doing a sketch challenge. The sketch looks like this

And as what has become my thing I have included the sketch with my metric measurements. These measurements are for a square card which is not my usual card shape. And so here is how I put this card sketch to use.

This is a simpler put together for me. It is not a lot of layers or colours either. This is made with a 6X6 Paper Pad - First Noel by Kasiercraft and a gold tape with white spots. I have added some gold dots with a paint pen.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my Design Team project. And I would love it if you came and played along with our sketch design this week but also the upcoming challenges as well. See you around at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge.

Merry Christmas to All

Hello Everyone,
I have popped in to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and wonderful time with family and friends. As you gather around the Christmas tree to open presents with family and friends, I would like you to consider the greatest gift that was never put under a tree. God gave the ultimate gift His Son for us - He started out as a babe and grew into a Man - God knew that the birth of Jesus would eventually lead to the Cross at Eastertime. He knew the impact that Jesus would have on this earth even though he was only here for a very short while.

This is something to consider - Jesus was only on this earth just over 30 years but he made such an impact.  Your life can have an impact on this earth and the people that you encounter each day of your life. What do you want to leave behind?
Thanks for reading this post. And as always before you go I want to leave you with this final thought
As we go forward to the end of this year and into the next consider how you life can make a difference - whether big or small. Just a smile given to a stranger can make their otherwise bleak day a cheerier one.

Blessing of the Season to you all,
💗 Tracy B

Joy

Hello everyone,
I am back for a second card project for today. It's so good to be able to have some time in my craft space. But this happens when you don't have to do school runs and such 😉 And this is my card

I really had fun with this one and I think that I may redo this card a couple more times. The image is a digital stamp Christmas Word Joy from Bugaboo stamps. I use this image quite a lot because you can colour it to suit your papers, very handy that! And to start this card off came the sketch

And as I have been doing I have included the measurements to make a front for a A6 card. And also any mats are usually 0.5cm bigger.

The image I printed and coloured with my Copic markers and it is backed with a Christmas digital paper. Then I added this to a piece of shimmer Maroon paper and matted this with green paper. The poinsettia is a die cut that I had left over in my Christmas Stash.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project. To let me know that you stopped by please consider leaving a comment. And before you go I would like to leave you with this thought

This is something that I hope to be able to do more of while I am not running to different things over this Christmas/New Year break. I want to do more reading next year - that is a goal for me.

Have a Happy Crafty Kind of Day,

Oh Holy Night

Hello everyone,
Yes I am still making Christmas cards but now I am starting onto next years batch. As I now have 2 places that I donate cards too now and also my own needs I am definitely going to have to be making them all through the next 12 months. And this is what I have started with

For me this is definitely a "Clean and Simple" style of card mainly because it doesn't have a lot of layers. I actually like how this turned out but of course with me it started with finding a sketch and I found this one

And as I do for you I have included the measurements not only for myself to use the next time but also if you would like to make a card using this sketch. These measurements are to make the front for a A6 card.

I love this image but I am not sure where I bought it from. But she has always reminded me of a rag doll that I got for a present one year so I thought it may be suitable for this weeks Card in Envy challenge. And then Tuesday Morning Sketches is having a Anything Goes so I thought that I would use one of their previous sketches.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project. To let me know that you came by please consider giving me a comment and if you have a blog I will stop by yours sometime. And before you go I would like to leave you with this thought

This is one thing that I have been teaching our children. But also how to handle when it doesn't work out. This is all part of life. I want to teach my children these things not this world!
