January 2019 Theme Challenge

Hello Everyone, Today I am pleased to show you the next challenge for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. Since it is the 3rd week of the month we have a theme and this time around Andreja has given us this

I have to admit that this theme stumped me for quite a while. But I did come up with this card. This is a card that is on the simpler side but I am really happy with how it all came together.

To help me make a few design decisions I turned to a sketch to help pull things together and this is the one that I used

October 2015
I used several dies and my Cuttlebug to make the image area stand out since I was keeping the image simple. To help keep the image simple I have only coloured the star, used some painters tape to make the shape of the beam. To colour the beam I used Mustard Seed Distress Ink plus a mini sponge tool.

I found this sentiment from another stamp set and I stamped it with my black ink and my small stamping platform to make sure I got a clear impression and this finished off my card. I hope that you will stop by our challenge blog and see what the other members have been up to. And before you go I would like to leave you with this thought

Something to remember when faced with an obstacle. Sometimes getting through is as important as to what you were facing.

Dog Dreaming

Hello everyone. I am sharing with you a card that is based actually on several challenges. All of these challenges just worked together. And I think that I came up with a card that I am really happy with.

I found this image over at All Dressed Up digital images and I think that he is just adorable. He is a free image and you can get him here. I thought that he could be daydreaming so I found this bone image and printed both of these on white card stock. I coloured both of these images with my Copic markers. Then I used my Scan N Cut to first cut around the dog image then I put the bone in a scalloped oval and cut 2 smaller one as well to make the bubbles.

To start off this card I found the image then I found a sketch that I could use to give me an idea of how big to print out the dog and his bone. And this is the sketch that I found

And I have included my measurements for sketch #483 from Tuesday Morning Sketches. The leaves behind Dog are cut using some die cuts from Kasiercraft and light green paper and then sponged with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. The background paper was bought in a 6x6 paper pack already clear embossed with the words of encouragement and I used embossed letters for my sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my card today. And before you go I would like to leave you with this thought

Around our place at the moment it is predicted that we will possibly see around 250mls of rain in the next 48hrs. Which could include thunderstorms and high winds. We need the rain because so much of Australia is in drought but this type of rain can cause flash flooding which isn't good either. See you all on the other side of the storms.

Bundle of Joy

Hello everyone. Today I am sharing with you a card that I made for some dear friends who just welcomed their little girl into the world just over a week ago.

Isn't this image adorable. I have used "Babe Moon Lullaby" available from Lil Miss Muffet Digital Stamps quite a few times and for either a Baby Girl or Boy. The starry background is a digital paper that I have and joined these together and printed them onto white card stock. I coloured the baby image in with my Copic markers.

The sketch that I used is from Operation Write Home

I included the measurements that I used to fit my A6 front of a card which is the size for a card in Australia. So some aren't exactly to the original sizes mentioned because our card stock is different.

Sometimes I like to make cards that are a little less fussy but this does have the layers that I like to play around with. My layers can either be cardstock or sometimes I will use distress inks around the edge to help them to stand out.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project. I hope that you might have found some useful information or something to spark your creativity. And before you go I would like to leave you with this final thought

Whether you are doing a job or a chore around your home may you do as Mary says "Find your element of Fun" and this will help get it done.

Refreshing Christmas

Hello everyone, I have mentioned before that Christmas in Australia is a lot different to the northern hemisphere. In Australia we are looking more for cold refreshing drinks than the warm eggnog type of drinks just because we are trying to stay hydrated in the warm/hot weather.

You may be wondering how or where the idea for this card came from … well it started with a sketch of course. I love to start with a sketch and this one if from Freshly Made Sketches. This is sketch #366

I have included my measurements with the sketch for those who may be interested. I do this for my own reference later if I decide to use this sketch again then I don't have to refigure out the dimensions. But as you can see my planning wasn't 100% on point today because I had planned for the straws to be pointing the same way as the sketch. And I added a little interest to the background by using a stencil from Scrapmatts and two distress inks. I used Faded Jeans and Broken China I thought that this looked a little like bubbles even though the stencil was named "New Cheese".

But I am happy with how the card came out despite the printing problem that I had. I am still going to enter this in for the design team call for Freshly Made Sketches. I would love to be on a team that deals in sketches as I love using them for my card creations.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at my blog. And before you go I would like to leave you with this thought for the day

This is such a good way to look at things. Sometimes when you are in the middle of what you are going through you forget that there may be a way to improve things.
