Today over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge it is week two of the month which means we are bringing you a colour challenge. And our host Andreja has chosen this colour combination for us to play with
When I was first told about this combination I thought that it was very different. And it was going to take me out of my comfort zone. I mean don't get me wrong I love Purple and I also like Green but I have never used them on a Christmas card before. But this is the card that I have come up with.
Before I made this card I had to look through my stash to see if I actually had some papers that fitted the colours and luck was on my side. I had gotten a magazine that included Christmas papers that had these colours in it ... Yeah Happy Dance!! But I didn't really know how to pull it all together so I went to my favourite starting point a sketch and I found this one from 52 CCT
It was a simpler design but I knew that I could work with it. The papers had these stitched looking trees which I thought I could make into the main element. All I had to do was add a piece of sand coloured card stock which I used distress ink around the edge for the trunks. Then I found in my sticker stash my holographic circle stickers which I put on the trees for lights and I also had this Seasons Greetings as well and thought it set the card off nicely. Instead of using some paper for the strip I dug into my washi tape collection to find just the right one - this one is a little see through but I liked the design. And this finished off my card.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my Design Team project. I would love it if you came and played along with our colour combination this week but also the fun upcoming challenges as well. See you around at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge.
This Christmas card is just so much fun. I love how the whole thing layers on top of each other.
ReplyDeleteWell done for rising to the challenge. Sometimes it's not easy but you have created a fun and modern looking card. x
ReplyDeleteHé oui, pas facile comme combo, mais c'est ce qui est fun, sortir de sa zone de confort et se renouveler, bravo pour ce défi, biz
ReplyDeleteClever combination between sketch and challenge, Tracy !! You have perfectly connected these "not easy" colors!
